Dr. Quentin Young is one of our nation’s most distinguished medical physicians and a leading advocate for a universal healthcare plan; he is retired from private practice after 61 years. Dr Young served as the physician of Martin Luther King during his involvement in the civil rights and anti-war movements in the 60s. As a fellow Chicago resident, he has been a friend and confidant of Obama before his election and has consulted with him on healthcare reform. He was the Chairman of the Medical Committee for Human Rights, Chairman of Medicine at Cook County Hospital, a founder of the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group and President of the American Public Health Association. Dr. Young is a Clinical Professor of Preventative Medicine and Community Health at the Univ. of Illinois Medical Center, and is a founding member of the Chicago-based Physicians for a National Health Program, a non-profit physician advocacy group pressuring for universal health.
